Easy Hāngī is a stovetop hāngī cooker that gives your meat and vegetables that familiar earth-cooked flavour in 60 minutes, without a pit, hot stones or a full day of waiting. It works on gas, electric and induction hobs, or outside on a gas burner.

How Our Hāngī Cooker Works

The secret sits at the bottom of the pot. Our flavour sticks infuse your kai with the distinctive earth-cooked hāngī flavour you’d expect from a traditional ground hāngī, and the whole cook is oil-free. They go straight from the freezer into the pot, with no thawing needed.

Cooking an Easy Hāngī takes three simple steps:

  • Tahi: Place the flavour sticks in the centre of the pot.
  • Rua: Stack the meat basket, then the vegetable basket, and put the lid on.
  • Toru: Heat, add hot water, finish cooking and lift the baskets out with the grip hooks.

Chicken, pork, lamb, sausages, potatoes and kūmara all cook together in one pot, so everything is ready at the same time.

Easy Hāngī grew from founder Ruka Broughton’s idea to bring hāngī meals into the home kitchen. The brand also honours Ruka jnr, Ruka’s son, who passed away in 2020. Before the kits, a custom-built hāngī trailer produced 4,400 dinners out of a garage to help fundraise for the community. That experience shaped the hāngī cooker you can use in your own kitchen today.
